Welcome to Knotts Island.

Glad to
have you by.

More new stuff, folks. Scott Morrison's site is now our link to Fire and Rescue. Check it out. The site is going public. We hope to become a dot-org or dot-com soon. Some selfish reseller took the dot-com domain and it may cost money to get it back. We'll keep you posted. Don't forget to sign the guest book, pass the site on to a friend, and submit your name for the directory.--- See ya 'round!.

Not many people have ever heard of us. We're generally unknown to the many people who visit North Carolina's Outer Banks every year. This isn't too bad, though. If everyone did know about us, they'd all want to move in. We do like to have visitors so look around the site. There's a lot to see. Maybe after your virtual visit you might like to stop by in person some time.

Oh, yeah. Please sign our guest book. It'd be nice to meet you.

Facts about all 50 States

Here are the answers to most of the questions you're already asking.

Where is Knotts Island?

If you look at a map of North Carolina, you'll find us in the upper right corner at the extreme north end of the Outer Banks, on the border with Virginia. We're about three miles from the ocean and five miles from the mainland of Currituck County. This little map makes the island look big. The western half is nothing but marshland. The only firm land that connects us to Virginia is on the man-made causeway, indicated by the single road leading to the border.

Why would I want to visit?

Simply put, the scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly. You can meet local artists and crafters who can send a little of our lifestyle to your home, no matter where you live. Sportsmen and naturalists love the wilderness here. Folks who simply enjoy the great outdoors are right at home as well. There's time and a place for anyone who comes to this island.

Let's say you're headed to or from the Outer Banks. You could take a detour and stop in for a little visit. If you're staying in the Virginia Beach resort area, you could hang out for a while. Maybe you'll see some familiar faces. There's something to do no matter what your schedule.

If you only have a few minutes before you have to catch the ferry, stop at the Knotts Island Market for a take-out lunch, fill your tank, pick up a souvenir, and be on your way in no time. Missed the ferry? Don't worry. Now you have a couple of hours to kill. Why not sit down to some hot food and a cold beverage at the Pirate's Cove Restaurant or the Dockside Grille.

For you day trippers, we're surrounded by the Mackay Island Wildlife Refuge. We have a boat ramp for those who've got a boat to explore with. If natural beauty isn't your thing, you could visit Martin Vineyards, Moon Rise Bay Vineyard, or The Peach Basket- fill your car with fresh fruit and pick up a bottle or two of locally vinted wine.

How do I get there?

There are two ways to get here. Use the Currituck Sound Ferry, free of charge, from the North Carolina side. If you're coming from the Virginia side, you'll drive by way of the Marsh Causeway Road. Either way you come or go, the sites will be beautiful and traveling can be relaxing again.

Y'all take care now.
